Israeli air strikes have all but pummeled or flat or destroyed numerous parts of the Gaza region. Some of these strikes hit the reported Rafah bridge crossing between the area and Egypt.
CNN reports that it is unclear if the bridge closure is due to air strikes or another problem. Officials did however acknowledge that the bridge sustained heavy damage during the initial attacks. It comes as Israel issued orders for more than 1.1m people from the south to vacate the area ahead of expected further strikes.
