George Santos is joining the anti-gay train in Congress, co-sponsors bill to turn back gay rights in US

Lying Republican Rep George Santos (who is unironically gay) is joining an anti-gay bill in Washington that would otherwise have some pretty serious consequences if it were to actually pass. According to a readout of the bill, and you can probably guess which direction this is going, it seeks to all but derails gay rights in the country. In the bill politicians are attempting to masquerade a so-called effort to ‘protect women’s rights’ but the bill itself actually reads mostly about the LGBTQ+ community.

The bill claims that its point is to protect and ‘preserve’ the rights given and afforded to ‘natural’ born women. However, that’s about as far as the bill goes in its so-called mission. The resolution of course sticks to some fairly common right-wing anti-gay talking points. It says “sex” would be defined as “biological sex at birth,” words like “woman” and “man” would be defined based on sex assigned at birth, and “mother” and “father” are defined based on sex.

As a bill it appears to be an indirect attack on a case known as Boston v Clayton Co. In that case, it was later determined that pretty much LGBTQ+ persons or people federally were protected from discrimination in any form (including employment.)

Taking that into account, if the protections were taken away it would once again permit employers to deny gay people a job or simply fire them.
