Antiquity thieves are nothing new but this one might be one for the books. According to reports, a massive trove of very ancient artifacts from Thailand at that have been discovered. The story begins with an Englishman who died in 2020 while under investigation for allegedly smuggling the very artifacts out of Asia and into the western world.
Enter: The Latchford Family. The Latchford Family before willingly turning over the find after having left them inside of a car for researchers to find is an interesting tale in itself. The AP notes that the find is in relation to that of the Khmer Empire which now proves that Thailand was at one point very very rich which researchers had long suspected.
The massive find contained “crowns, necklaces, bracelets, belts, earrings and amulets” of gold and other precious metals, per the AP.
