Hours after Elon Musk took over Twitter, hate speech won

Despite his claims that he wouldn’t open the doors to a total and complete hellscape, Elon Musk appears to be losing the battle against Twitter’s hateful keyboard warriors. According to some reports, hate speech including the use of the n-word soared by more than 500% in the hours after his takeover. The Washington Post even rounded up some of the atrocious things people are saying about women; gay people, Black people and those of colour and other folks (we can’t print those things here.)

The not-so-surprising news comes after Musk claimed a new moderation team of ‘diverse’ people would be formed to help the company under his rule. It’s worth noting that this was also attempted at Facebook, however, Facebook failed badly at this and is considered to be one of the worst offenders of this kind among players in social media.
