Here’s the truth about what happened at the New York Post and it definitely wasn’t a hack according to multiple reports

As it turns out the New York Post was in fact not hacked but instead was overtaken by a rogue employee on his way out. According to multiple reports out Friday, the hack was a false claim made by the paper likely in an effort to cover itself from any damaging blowback following the tweets. As we reported over the course of this week, those tweets were pretty offensive and shocking so we won’t repeat them here (you can find them in our trending topics list though.)

Buzzfeed News has since reported that the paper has released a statement regarding the matter confirming suspicions that it was a rogue employee.

“The New York Post’s investigation indicates that the unauthorized conduct was committed by an employee, and the employee has been terminated,” the spokesperson said. “This morning, we immediately removed the vile and reprehensible content from our website and social media accounts.”
