Following Jacinda Ardern ‘s shock announcement that she is resigning as Prime Minister her successor has likely emerged. According to media reports in the country, Chris Hipkins, is the likely contender to take up the job once she formally exits but it won’t be without a steep challenge. Hipkins will have to defend the seat come the October elections with a Labour party that sits about 5 points behind the National Party.
The Guardian reports that Hipkins won’t be official until the caucus votes on Sunday.
