Here are the 4 biggest stories you may have missed this holiday week

As many of you begin the festivities celebrating with your families (as we are also doing so ourselves) we’re taking a trip down rewind lane. This week was a jampacked week in the news business so sit back with a cup of cocoa and holiday cheer and read along.

  1. Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in both feet after a party in 2020.

Back in 2020, a violent altercation took place between Lanez and Thee Stallion after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s compound in the Hollywood Hills. Lanez after the altercation is understood to have aimed a gun at Megan then telling her to ‘dance’ before having shot her in both feet. He was found guilty on all 3 charges in which prosecutors brought against him and is facing more than 20 years in prison and deportation.

2. The United States has passed its massive omnibus spending bill

Despite opposition from the general public and Republicans, Democrats have managed to clear their spending bill before Christmas and the massive winter storm that is currently wreaking havoc across the U.S. The $1T+ bill features aid for Ukraine; a number of less prominent fixtures (see here for a full list.)

3. Kari Lake is a loser once again

Republican nominee for Governor of Arizona Kari Lake (who lost the election) has now lost her lawsuit to overturn the election. As we reported on Christmas Eve, the judge in the case ultimately ruled that Lake basically presented a bunch of gossip and there was no reason to proceed with the case. According to Lake ‘s camp, she plans to appeal the ruling.

4. SBF has begun his home confinement in Palo Alto Calif after being granted $250m bail

Sam Bankman-Fried is temporarily a free man pending his case for his historic case of unbelievable fraud. A judge presiding over the case in New York ultimately ruled that if his parents put up their home he’d be granted bail and they did. The home and their agreement reportedly satisfied a portion of the massive bail but they didn’t have to pay the full amount. He is now required to remain at their Palo Alto area home and is only allowed to shop online if purchases don’t go over $1,000. His former girlfriend Caroline Ellison has already flipped and admitted the entire thing was a wild scheme they both knew and knew all along was in fact illegal.
