Jason Van Dyke who notoriously killed LaQuan McDonald back in 2014 (and was later charged with such) has been freed from prison. Van Dyke is understood to have only served half of his sentence for the heinous murder of an innocent Black teenager.
Van Dyke is among many American officers who have either killed or brutally beaten Black people across the United States in recent years. Van Dyke’s particular case is one of the rare examples that an officer was actually sentenced to prison — even if it wasn’t for the full sentence.
Critics have criticized his release already citing there’s no way time served was sufficient for the murder committed. Several sides of the spectrum are calling for the disgraced cop and trigger happy killer to face federal charges.
