“Panama Disease” returns to bananas, extinction fears imminent

The world’s banana supply could be very shorthanded in the near future, at least if reports are to be believed. According to MSN, researchers and health officials have sounded the alarm on the world’s banana supply — mostly because of stuff happening in Asia and most parts around that area of the world.

Scientists say that “Panama Disease” could lead to the very extinction of bananas — causing unprecedented problems throughout planet earth. The $44billion industry feeds; partially or wholly sustains, and brings parts of the world together. In developing countries like Africa, people depend greatly on bananas for part of their daily calorie intake for health purposes.

The bigger issue points to the fact that we as humans may not be growing our food in the most sustainable of ways.
