3. The new (and yet another) nominee for the GOP ‘s attempt at the Speaker gavel has been announced.

Just hours after Tom Emmers dropped out of the race for the gavel another name has entered the ring. But before we get that far, we must remind people that it appears the GOP is not allowing a Speaker to be pushed through unless they’re willing to go completely to the far-right. Emmers was talked up by Trump; talked about Trump, and attempted to court members but still dropped out after Trump appeared to voice his opposition to said vote and advised others not to vote for him.

Enter: Mike Johnson. The new vote for Johnson is expected on Wednesday morning, however, it remains unclear if he will even come close to the req’d number of votes.

4. What’s on TV tonight?

It would not be October without the annual mention of Halloweentown which is available on Disney+.
