Republicans have introduced legislation to formally end Joe Biden ‘s student loan forgiveness program

As the old saying goes in GOP land ‘they want you to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and deal with it.’ GOPers kicked off their Monday by all but announcing a series of new legislative bills that would otherwise revoke the executive order issued by Joe Biden previously on the matter. In that order, Biden essentially kickstarted an attempted student loan forgiveness program which would’ve allowed certain people within an income limit up to $20,000 of student loan relief.

GOPers were having none of it. As noted in the legislation, GOPers are seeking to overturn the order, however, Joe Biden could also veto that bringing it to Congress would then be required to find a two-thirds majority to supersede his veto.

“Where is the relief for the man who skipped college but is paying off his work truck, or the woman who paid off her loans and is now struggling to afford her mortgage?” Senator Bill Cassidy said. “This resolution prevents these Americans, whose debts look different from the favoured group the Biden administration has selected, from picking up the bill for this irresponsible and unfair policy.”
