Suspect in Lockerbie plane bombing finally in custody, police say

Authorities in Scotland and the United States have finally announced a major break in the case against a Libyan man accused of orchestrating the Lockerbie bombing. The Lockerbie bombing was a 1988 case that saw a passenger plane destroyed by a massive bomb that year, it killed all individuals that were aboard at the time. The suspect has been identified as Abu Agela Mas’ud Kheir Al Marimi and remains in U.S custody.

According to American officials, he is expected to make his first court appearance in the District of Columbia. They did not provide any information as to how the man came to be in American custody. The bombing also killed an additional 11 people on the ground at the time. It was travelling from London to New York and was known as Pan Am Flight 103.
