It is about to get incredibly easier and likely cheaper to get hearing aids in the United States

An item that should’ve never cost as much as it did to begin with is about to get a steep price cut amid the removal of red tape to get one to begin with. According to the FDA, officials are set to remove restrictions on hearing aids allowing people for the first time ever to get them over the counter at stores.

This means that people will be able to pay drug store prices for hearing aids rather than full price as they normally would be. Full price in some cases according to what we could find on the internet spiked as high as $5,000 in many parts of America often which isn’t covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

According to a statement released by the FDA, the new move allowing OTC purchases of such aids is to take effect in 60 days. This is set to benefit an estimated 30 million humans in the United States who early suffer from mild; partial, or total hearing loss.
