Newsom signs gun control bill; wackjob who lied about homeless guy finds out her fate and more

Your evening rewind is here Happy Friday and drink or smoke responsibly.

  1. CA Governor Newsom has signed a new bill aimed at Texas and modeled after Texas ‘s controversial law that all but banned abortions in the state. But that’s not the worst part of the bill.

According to reports, Gavin Newsom is taking Texas to task over its anti abortion law that allows people to essentially turn into deputies reporting each other if they get caught having an abortion. Newsom admitted in a press conference on Friday that the law would likely be challenged but that is exactly what Newsom and company wanted to happen.

2. Katelyn McClure the woman who conspired with two men to front a bizarre GoFundMe scam has learned her fate.

Alright so look a while back over in Jersey (side-eyeing you at this point Jersey folks) a group of people decided to wake up on a Tuesday and launch what would become a movie script rather than a legitimate Go fund Me. At the time, Katelyn and her ilk created a hoax online claiming that a homeless man at a gas station had given her his last $20 when he realized what had happened.

The scam later unraveled after Johnny Bobbitt the homeless man actually sued Katelyn and her ex boyfriend DiAmico over his alleged claim to some of the misappropriated funds. Katelyn will get one year in prison for her crime though likely will get more time on state charges.

3. Russia and Ukraaine have signed a new grain deal

But its probably anybody’s bet if Russia will actually acknowledge the deal once it is fully in place without trying to sabotage or secretly change terms of the deal behind Zelenskyy ‘s back. The newly reported deal released on Friday reportedly allows the Black Sea ports to be re-opened and grain to be transported. As one of the world’s leading grain exporters this is huge news for several countries.

4. Los Angeles County is prepping to reinstate mask mandates indoors.

Stay tuned for more information this weekend as we learn more information. On Friday reports surfaced suggesting that the county is going to reinstate ask mandates sometime in the next week. It is unclear if this is a reinstatement or just a recommendation.
