In an effort to end blockades, Canada ‘s Trudeau has invoked (for the first time ever) CA ‘s emergency powers act

A feat that has never been done before in the country. According to NPR, Canada is struggling to contain its “Freedom Protests” that are causing quite the scene between Canadian and American borders. A scene so much so that the Canadian Prime Minister has reportedly activated, for the first time ever, Canada ‘s emergency powers act.

Now before anyone goes right field claiming this is an attempt to invoke martial law — Trudeau ‘s government maintains that the military is not being called in. The act was first passed in 1988 but has never been used before in any portion of Canada. Though Trudeau is facing some opposition from locale premier ‘s, particularly that of Alberta who has maintained that using the act isn’t necessary as the area has its resources to help end the blockade.

“These blockades are illegal, and if you are still participating the time to go home is now,” Trudeau told reporters after a virtual meeting with province leaders, The Associated Press reported.
