NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has entered self isolation

In the midst of COVID-19 cases rising in the country. According to government officials, the Prime Minister has willingly entered self-isolation after an exposure event in the last two weeks.

“The exposure event took place on Saturday 22 January during flight NZ8273 from Kerikeri to Auckland,” the New Zealand government said in a press release Saturday.

The Governor-General — Dame Cindy Kiro and her staff were also aboard the same flight and are understood to be taking the same precautionary self-isolation measures.

“The prime minister is asymptomatic and is feeling well. In line with Ministry of Health advice she will be tested immediately tomorrow and will isolate until Tuesday,” her office said. “The governor general and members of her staff were also onboard and are following the same isolation instructions.”
