ICYMI: Tik Tok & We Chat to be banned in the U.S after Sunday

NEW YORK — Troubling news in America this week as it has become public knowledge that Tik Tok and We Chat have been outlawed in America. According to the Commerce Department, Wilbur Ross has ordered that transactions of the apps (that includes downloads and software updates) ceased within the borders of the United States.

According to the Commerce order, WECHAT will get totally blocked first including sending and receiving money between users. The app will essentially be a paperweight after 12 October. The order also bans the hosting of any such content. For Tik Tok, the app will be pretty much dead after 12 November including the ability to access videos within the app.

It remains unclear if the app ban will be reversed or stopped. Both apps have a chance to satisfy the governments’ demands — but it remains unclear if they will. Combined more than 100m American citizens or nationals use said apps within the USA.
