How to make your own real hand sanitizer

Like many things in this world — usable hand sanitizer that actually works can be created from the comfort of your own home. This article is not meant to deter people from washing their hands.

We’d like to remind folks that the following mini-recipe can be used (and it’s fairly inexpensive) to create your own hand sanitizer.

  1. 2/3 cup 99% rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol (this is usually the white bottle found in your local drug store, usually opposite the brown bottle on most aisles.)
  2. 1/3 cup 100% pure aloe vera gel
  3. If you’re feeling scenty, get some essential oils and drop about 8 dabs in there to throw in some scent.
  4. Bowl and spoon.
  5. And complete the process.

Your solution has to be at least 90% alcohol to be effective.
