A history lesson on how we started in blogging and journalism

One of the most interesting and often bemusing questions I get everyday — is how and when my collection of blogs and digital newspapers started.

In 2002, this blog existed as FashionBzaar, an entertainment and gossip column meant for young people with extensive photo galleries of the people that were trending online. I was about 8 years old at the time. This blog would exist under that name and domain until about the summer of 2007-2008 when Bazaar Daily News was officially born.

From 2008 until about 2012 — this blog existed on a US domain until it was hijacked from my possession after a DDoS attack ruined one of the servers containing the domain. From 2012 on it has been hosted on this very British domain.

It would go on to define the rest of my existence just as the first blog did. Although now I/we don’t cover much gossip related stuff and exist mainly to report actual news and deep dive investigations.

It’s 2019. That means that these blogs and digital newspapers in several different formats have existed for 17 years. I started them as means to escape an abusive childhood while in a foster home. They became my solace and my existence to help me cope with the idea that outside of them I had little as a child.

I decided to pen this after a woman from the National Press Club of America appeared to be flabbergasted at the idea that I have been in blogging/journalism longer than I can remember and longer than most people. It is something that I live by and something that I thoroughly enjoy doing every day.
