Spain has charged pop singer Shakira with tax evasion for the second time as authorities ruthlessly pursue tax revenue in the country

The years-long battle between the government of Spain and Colombian pop singer Shakira continues this week. According to media reports, Shakira has been charged with tax evasion for the 2nd time in the country in reference to her 2018 income.

Spain is coming for Shakira once more. In new charges revealed Tuesday, the pop icon has been hit with charges that claim she failed to pay more than 6.7 million euros ($7.1 million) in tax on her 2018 income. It is the second time the music icon has been hit with such charges but it is’t her only upcoming legal problem.

Government officials maintain that Shakira allegedly used an offshore company based in a tax haven to avoid detection by Spanish authorities.
