The iconic Brentwood home of Marilyn Monroe the late Hollywood legend will stand at least for now. Back in August, the home’s new mysterious owner filed to demolish the home after having purchased it back in June. The owner remains unknown and has not contacted the city in regard to the home.

CNN reports that with the help of the City Council the home’s fate will be put on hold at least for now following a swift vote to designate it as such this week. When the news of the demolition made news, thousands of people reportedly phoned City Council demanding that the home be preserved given who lived there and the significance of the fact she also died in the home.
