Paqui ‘s massively spicy tortilla chip featured in social media challenge pulled from shelves following death of teenager

Paqui the maker of a wildly spicy tortilla chip has asked retailers to begin pulling its chip product following the death of a 14-year-old boy who is believed to have died from eating it. The chip is made with some of the spiciest ingredients and is known to have several potential genuine consequences.

Paqui a subsidiary of Hershey Co is finding that its recent social media challenge probably wasn’t the smartest of ideas. According to the AP, a 14-year-old boy is dead this week after having reportedly consumed the brand’s infamous tortilla chip while in school.

The teen identified as 14-year-old Harris Wolobah at Doherty Memorial High School had tried the chip thanks to a classmate but felt quickly odd after consuming it. He died less than 48 hours later after complaining of stomach pains and later passing out at home. Paqui as a result of Wolobah ‘s death despite autopsy results still pending has decided to end the chip ‘s circulation all together asking retailers to remove the product indefinitely.
