There’s a new shiesty scammer in town as Casey Alexander is brought down in international whisky scam

British conman Casey Alexander, 26, joins an exclusive club led by some of the world’s often scandalous con artists. Alexander follows Anna Sorokin the infamous Russian woman who ironically swindled high society over in New York a few years ago.

According to court documents, Alexander apparently posed as a high-profile whiskey executive looking for a sale and investors. The problem is that Alexander was neither an executive nor had he ever worked with anything to do with wine. Both his products and his marketing pitches were all fake.

It is said that he would fool his potential investors by promising them ‘glamorous and luxurious tasting spirits’ but the problem is that the whisky casks actually didn’t exist.

Prosecutors allege that he also posed with a fake company to further boost his faux credentials. In other documents, it is revealed that the company was called Vintage Whisky. Its website promoted so called values of integrity and honesty making the entire situation that much more ironic.

Most of his victims appear to have been elderly or elderly and American. The case was first launched after the FBI got a telephone call from the son of a man in his 80’s in Ohio which tipped them off about the scam.

Alexander, from Stoke Newington, London, last week copped to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and faces up to 20 years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000 (£201,000). He was originally based in Ohio when this scam took place according to the case.
