King Charles has addressed the discovery of a document by The Guardian that revealed even further stronger ties between the royal family and the slave trade. In the reveal, The Guardian discovered a document dating back to 1689 which revealed deep ties between the then King Edward and the British slave trade. One notable transfer happened involving King Edward III of 1689.
The Ph.D. project mentioned comes from historian Camilla de Koning, co-sponsored by the Historic Royal Palaces charity. The research is expected to conclude in 2026.
