NY Dems propose tax hikes on Uber rides, Hulu, Netflix and other streamers in effort to pay for the MTA

Democratic politicians in New York have proposed yet even more tax hikes to pay for government services. According to the proposed legislation, streaming services along with ride sharing services would see an additional tax of up to 4% in an effort to pay for the financially strapped MTA.

The same MTA that has been so mismanaged for decades New York is now trying to pin it on ordinary residents.

The news comes as the MTA struggles to pay for itself even though executives and others have been paid handsomely for quite sometime now. Regardless of such, the MTA claims it needs more than $1B in order for the service to keep running. Executives claim the idea along with politicians is an effort to stave off a 5.5% fair hike bringing a subway fare to more than $3.

Other reports suggest that officials are floating taxes on package deliveries and other essentials also in an effort to pay for the MTA.

But they still refuse to clean up the tracks; the subways, and make the train more presentable like other major countries in the world.
