Prince Harry ‘s row with the Home Office over whether or not he maintains a right to armed security in the UK continues. According to official figures, his legal battle with the government has cost UK taxpayers upwards of about £300,000. 18 months ago the stepped back royal initiated a high court judicial review after his security was axed.
Harry at the time felt unsafe entering the United Kingdom without protection even though he was no longer a working royal. Officials also at the time declined to allow him to hire police officers as his personal protection squad.
The court case has been ongoing since autumn 2021 and a Freedom of Information request showed it had cost the full sum of £296,882 to defend.
