Sam Bankman-Fried due in court today in Manhattan

Amid death threats, the public may never know who helped bail Sam Bankman-Fried out of jail

Crypto kingpin Sam Bankman-Fried is in New York City today due for a 2pm federal court hearing. According to reports, Bankman-Fried is also attempting to keep two additional co-signers on his historic bond sealed and private amid a rise in death threats. Court filings show that the request comes on behalf of his parents who have informed the court they’ve been receiving a steady stream of violent threats. He is expec ted to plead not guilty to 8 counts of fraud related to his scandalous activities with FTX.

US Attorney Damian Williams alleges in the case that Bankman-Fried scammed investors out of a massive $1.8 billion and illegally used FTX customer deposits to prop up his Alameda Research hedge fund, buy real estate and splash out millions in political donations.  Most of those donations were equally split among candidates and appeared to be in part means to influence his relationship with Washington.
