A wild tale of an alleged kidnapping has now come under fire after the victim appears to have told on herself

Kidnapping; rape, crime, and everything in between is no laughing matter. However, suspects accused of any of these things deserve a free and just trial just as anyone else- – to prove they did it, especially in cases like that of Sharon Muse Johnson’s 2020 book titled, Kidnapped by a Client: The Incredible True Story of a Lawyer’s Fight for Justice. What might seem like your typical run of the mill story is now being questioned amid claims that she lied.

According to reports, a woman named Sharon Muse Johnson is making headlines in Kentucky amid an investigation into claims that her story about being kidnapped and an alleged rape isn’t actually true. The Louisvlle Courier reports that the case involves a man named Frankie Covington who is 16 years into a life sentence following the alleged 2006 crime.

Alleged because officials at the Kentucky Department of Corrections flagged the case after tidbits from Johnson ‘s book didn’t match what she had originally told police. Kentucky ‘s Department of Public Advocacy is now demanding a new trial following having reviewed the book because they claim she perjured herself during the trial.

The Courier Journal quotes the court motion as stating that Muse Johnson said in a police interview that Covington only laid hands on the back of her neck at the time; at trial, she openly claimed he touched her in a number of places, including near her or on herr genitalia. In the book, she wrote he “punched me all over my body” and smashed her head into various parts of the car sparking the current claims against her.
