As expected Putin has declared martial law in the four regions of Ukraine Russia illegally annexed

Russia despite their previous denials has now confirmed that in the four illegally annexed regions of Ukraine martial law is set to take form. CNBC reports that Putin’s new order is set to take flight tomorrow, though it isn’t exactly clear what that may mean in these regions as local civilians continue to be terrorized by the Russians.

Reuters’ take: “The moves, nearly eight months into the war, marked the latest escalation by Putin to counter a series of major defeats at the hands of Ukrainian forces since the start of September.” The regions in question include Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The moves are expected to include tighter restrictions on gatherings; media restrictions, broader power for the phoney authorities to rule unopposed, and the typical way Russia itself governs.
