Monkeypox Vax: Here’s what you need to know as vaccine drives spring up around the world

Monkeypox ix nothing new nor is the vaccine so we’re going to start there amid misinformation about th vaccine as a whole which has actually been approved by the FDA for quite some time. According to what we could find, the shot is known as  Jynneos shot. The shot can be administered even after someone contracts the virus (which we’d like to remind people this has nothing to do with monkeys.)

Monkeypox is generally considered an endemic to Central Africa and such which in essence means that unless someone has been there from a foreign territory it normally wouldn’t spring up the way it has in various parts of the world. Again this has nothing to do with monkeys and scientists have recently admitted how misleading the name is.

So far the US joins several other countries, including Australia, Portugal, Spain, and the UK, that have confirmed monkeypox infections.

Sticking point: most experts have agreed that the global spread of monkeypox is highly unusual. An exact full cause hasn’t totally been pinpointed but a large portion of the cases may have started somewhere near or in Spain.

Vaccines: There are a total of 2. The other is the ACAM2000 shot.
