French prez candidate Marine Le Pen has been accused of stealing monies from the European Union

France ‘s election is just about a week or so away for its next round but not before new accusations of criminal nature(s) have emerged against far-right candidate Marine Le Pen. According to media reports, Marine Le Pen has been accused of embezzling more than 550,000 from the European Union for her party. The claims appear to be claims she’s been aware of but the claims current status is a tad murky.

So here’s the deal. Yesterday allegations emerged that Le Pen along with her father Jean-Marie Le Pen, 93, of embezzling some €620,000 (£513,000) from the EU. Officials claim that they allegedly embezzled the funds through their far-right political party but for what remains unclear at this time.

Le Pen’s attorney has maintained that these allegations are more than a decade old and have long been addressed though that does not appear to be the case with European officials. It’s worth noting that this is not the only criminal enquiry that Le Pen is currently facing. On the other side of the coin, the far-right political personality is also under investigation for alleged misuse of funds and breaches of trust. Those particular allegations surface around a few startling allegations that she illegally used public money to pay for what is thought to have been a private RN staff.

Le Pen is also personally accused of £114,00 (€137,000) of EU funds taken illegally during her time as an MEP, between 2004 and 2017.
