Thursday is here and that means we’ve got your AM newsy guide. This newsy guide is brought to you by Target.

  1. A Florida Mom has won the worst parent of the year award (next to those who give their kids guns)

Pasco County Police announced this week that a local Mom is behind bars after giving her son meth on 3-4 different occasions causing him to dangerously hallucinate. Police say Asiq tried to get her son to lie to cops about where he got the meth from once paramedics showed up only for it to fall back on her. She was eventually charged with child abuse and contributing to the deliquency of a minor.

Cheryl Ann Asiq allegedly gave her 14-year-old son methamphetamine and caused him to hallucinate.

2. Prince Andrew might was well ride off into the sunset at this point

This week it emerged that Prince Andrew reached a settlement in the case of his sex assault/rape accuser Virginia Giuffre. It is understood though not publicly confirmed that Virginia will receive upwards of $16m in the settlement though there isn’t a provision in the settlement that stops her from talking. The only provision that appears to be inside of the agreement is one that stops her from talking until after the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and hype have totally died down.

3. Avian Flu outbreaks are spreading across American food plants (here’s what to know)

Avian Flu cases appear to have made their way into food plants in Indian; Kentucky and Virginia and even some places beyond. According to the USDA, some 300,000 chickens are understood to be in danger from the highly lethal (to birds anyway) virus. This is the first time the virus has been detected in the U.S since about early 2020 according to USA Today. Among the most hit  is a Tyson Foods facility where 246,000 birds are held.

This should serve as a reminder to people to please properly cook any poultry that comes into your kitchen. USDA officials confirmed that there is no known risk to humans though reminded people on Thursday to properly clean and cook all poultry items that are on the dinner table.

4. Big news for college students in America that were defrauded by colleges like DeVry

As the fight against mounting s tudent loan debt continues in America some good news at least for some. According to the Department of Education, some 70k students who attended schools like DeVry (and other similar ones) are set to receive their loan discharges through the government. This is a reference to the programme that allows people to get their loans discharged if they were misled about any singular prospect of a college (before/after.) DeVry along with the University of Phoenix; Corinthians, and numerous others were once all common for-profit scams in the United States.

The DOE is also moving to cancel loans for  former students of ITT Tech, Westwood College, Corinthian Colleges. So far $70m has been cancelled with an estimated $340m more expected to be cancelled in the coming months. The programme has been used so far to cancel about $2B in student debt.

5. Queen Elizabeth is using part of her own money to help bail her son out of his own crimes.

Queen Elizabeth is reportedly using at least £2m from her Duchy purse to help disgraced Andrew pay his mounting legal bill understood to be more than £16m. This is the latest of many scandals to hit the Queen herself who otherwise is almost never seen in scandals at all. Demands for the Queen to strip Andrew of his Dukedom and his remaining titles are growing, though, multiple reports indicate that she has no intention of doing so at least right now.
