China dumps museum project that unwittingly objectified young women

One of China ‘s most prominent museums is finding out the hard way this week that objectifying young women in any way is not the way to go about things today. According to the China Morning Post, Song Ta ‘s new exhibit (that apparently non-consensually used the photos of University students) has been dumped by its host museum over the fact he used people’s photos to rank from prettiest to ugliest. The original Chinese title, and we’re not kidding, was actually Campus Flower (translated.)

In English the controversial exhibit was called Uglier and Uglier. In Ta’s own words this is how he described the project.

“If you want to see the campus queen, you have to go to the museum as early as possible,” he notes. “Otherwise, as dusk comes, it will become a living hell in this place.” I
