Elizabeth Holmes apparently will never learn her lesson. The glamorous fraudster who swindled doctors; physicians, and even patients out of millions is preparing to stand trial for such next year. But in the interim, she’s back in the courtroom over claims that she hasn’t paid her lawyers in over a year.
According to court documents obtained by The Daily News, lawyers allege that Holmes “doesn’t even have plans to actually pay people.” Docs show that Holmes has not paid her Palo Alto-based lawyers since at least last October. This might seem strange considering John Dwyer and his colleagues are also defending Holmes in a civil suit brought on by the same patients she scammed using Theranos.’
The docs were filed Monday in Phoenix by way of federal court. They noted very clearly that Holmes “financial situation” may not permit her to ever pay the lawyers and therefore they’re requesting to be dismissed from the case.
She is set to go on trial next August and is facing up to 20 years in prison.
