Biden Administration is now trying to claim that it is not responsible for feeding migrant children housed in makeshift camps along the U.S-Mexico border as they await proceedings

America’s hot-button immigration and migrant issue continues to spark discussion. This week the Biden administration quietly argued in an LA case that it is not responsible for feeding migrant children housed in makeshift camps along the border — the judge in the case however seems to disagree.

The Lowdown

Los Angeles judge Dolly Gee appeared to be warming up to the arguments presented by migrant-advocacy groups in the hot-button case.

In this case, the case surrounds the argument of whether or not migrant kids who are at the border in such makeshift camps meet the definition of ‘legal custody.’ Migrant advocacy groups argued that unless they are entirely free to leave they do not meet such guidelines to be presented with proper food; housing, safety guarantees, and other measures in place for young people. During the hearing, The Guardian reports that officials argued that kids in custody are free to leave so long as they do not proceed further into the United States.

Some children arrive entirely on their own to the camps which led to divisions within the case as to how the determination should go. The question of course is a larger part of the migrant-crisis at the U.S-Mexico border which is caused by both domestic and international governmental failures.
