Jordan is backing out of an energy deal with Israel amid its ongoing assault on Gaza that the country now refuses to ‘ignore’

Jordan ‘s government has announced that an upcoming energy deal with Israel has been shelved amid the ongoing war. According to reports, the gov’t announced this because they ‘feel this can longer be justified as self-defence.’

A supposed to have been ratified energy deal has now been called off. Reports indicate that the deal between Jordan and Israel was supposed to have been completed last month, however, Jordan now refuses to ignore the atrocities being committed in Gaza.

“We had a regional dialogue about regional projects. I think that all of this …, the war [has] proven, [it] will not proceed,” Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi told Al Jazeera on Thursday.
