Republican Jim Jordan’s quest to become the next speaker has failed and he has bowed out. Numbers suggest that Jordan was unable to get past his collected 200 votes with 217 required to clinch the gavel. Hakeem Jeffries, however, received 212 of the required votes to become the next Speaker.
