In Uganda, ignorance and hate at the hands of those in the halls of power have now resulted in the first person being charged under the country’s inhumane anti-gay policy

In Uganda, the country’s highest powers have decided that only certain lives are allowed to live. A few months ago, the country enacted what is now widely recognized as the world’s harshest anti-gay policy. According to reports, the country has charged a 20-year-old man with ‘aggravated homosexuality.’

A heartbreaking first in Uganda is once again bringing the country into international headlines. According to Reuters, a 20-year-old man has been charged under the law for having intercourse with a 41-year-old man. He is the first known person to be charged under the blatantly ignorant law that may end up killing him. Uganda has not actually executed anyone in about 20 years according to available information about the country. According to previously published reports, the country’s President has threatened to resume executions a number of times in recent years.
