Capitol rioters may be banned from holding future offices in America

The domestic terrorists who helped along an insurrection against the U.S Capitol aren’t yet done learning their fate.

According to reports out Sunday, lawmakers in numerous states are proposing legislation that would otherwise ban people convicted in connection to the insurrection from ever holding any form of public office or a position of public trust. New York; Virginia, and Connecticut are leading the example in proving there are real consequences for such violent behavior.

Per a report by the AP. While the bills vary in scope, their aim is similar. “If you’ve tried to take down our government through violent means, in no way should you be part of it,” New York state Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal said.
