The James Webb Telescope has found its first exoplanet that is identical to planet earth

There’s now one more exoplanet floating around above us according to NASA in its latest release about the adventures of its James Webb Telescope. According to the Space Agency, the ‘new world’ is all but 41 light years from earth and appears to be strikingly identical to that of planet earth itself. Known as LHS 475 b., the exoplanet is 99 percent of Earth’s diameter according to the agency and rresearchers.

The strange new planet is a few hundred degrees hotter than Earth itself according to what they know so far.

It is understood that scientists do not yet know if the world contains an atmosphere or what may be present within it. It is yet another fascinating discovery for mankind as mankind continues trekking through Space with the help of things like the massive James Webb Telescope.

Mark Clampin, Astrophysics Division director at NASA Headquarters in Washington, said in a statement: ‘These first observational results from an Earth-size, rocky planet open the door to many future possibilities for studying rocky planet atmospheres with Webb.

‘Webb is bringing us closer and closer to a new understanding of Earth-like worlds outside our solar system, and the mission is only just getting started.’
