Officials now know what is causing the mysterious outbreak of pneumonia in Argentina

Argentinian officials have confirmed reports of a mysterious outbreak of pneumonia in the country and now they know exactly what caused it. According to health officials in the country, the outbreak is caused by what is known as the legionella virus. The situation per officials began in the Tucuman area of the country and is understood to still be under investigation according to a statement by the Pan American Health Organization.

Legionella is “associated with outbreaks of severe pneumonia,” the PAHO said in a statement. “The most common form of transmission is inhalation of contaminated aerosols produced in conjunction with water sprays, jets, or mists.”
