Sports star Mason Greenwood is out of a job. According to reports, Greenwood who is facing some pretty serious allegations of rape and threats to kill an 18 year old student has lost almost all of his big-name sponsors. Up first, American sports brand Nike has confirmed that they’ve severed ties with Greenwood effective immediately and indefinitely.
Greenwood was released on bail on Wednesday after having previously been arrested by the Greater Manchester Police force. His team (United) has also reportedly confirmed that he will not train or play with the team pending results of the investigation and the police investigation as a whole. As of this writing, it does not appear that the 18-year-old victim has been identified and per editorial policy we will not publish their name in this newspaper.
This also means that Greenwood will not be up for any selections in terms of playing his beloved sport until all investigations surrounding the claims have been fully investigated to the fullest extent of the law. Unfortuantely for Greenwood he has also lost his appearance in an upcoming 22′ version of the popular FIFA sports game.
The developments also include a programme called TeamViewer who also works as a sponsor among top sports stars. According to that programme, Greenwood ‘s involvement is being closely monitored pending the outcome of investigations like his other deals.
