What you need to know about the Delta variant of COVID-19

The fight against the Coronavirus is not quite over yet and probably won’t be over for a while if “Delta” takes hold in America. Formally known as The variant (B.1.617.2) and informally known as “Delta” the variant is dominant is much of the modern world.

Particularly in the United States concerns are growing that the variant could dominate America by weeks end. According to the Huffington Post, the strain is already fairly dominant in several midwestern states that are struggling to combat the variant almost entirely.

For the most part it does appear that those who have been vaccinated have protection(s) against the variant (though that may change as researchers continue to learn more about the troubling virus.) It is particularly the unvaccinated that have the most to be concerned about as evidenced by countries like India. In India, the vaccination rate is so low which helped variants of the Coronavirus proliferate throughout much of the country.

FACTOID: This study about Pfizer and its vaccine success rates might be of interest to those who are still choosing which vaccine to get for themselves and their families.
