South Korea claims the North is ready to give up its nuclear weapons

Looks like those apparent top-secret talks between North and South Korea, may, have turned up something after all. According to the government of South Korea, North Korea, is , “readily prepared to give up its nuclear weapons”.

“North Korea has clearly expressed its intention for denuclearization on the Korean peninsula, and if there is no military threat, and North Korea’s regime security is promised, they have clarified that there is no reason to hold nuclear weapons,” said a statement from the office of South Korean President Moon Jae-in, per Bloomberg.

The North apparently wants guarantee that in exchange for following demands from world powers, that,  the nation will remain safe and the U.S will pretty much butt out of its life.    “They want guarantee that they will be safe as a nation from any threats from other countries” says one Korean official.

Per Southern officials, there will be a summit in April to further discuss removing North Korea’s nuclear weapons.
