PAKISTAN — In a not so subtle move, clerks in Pakistan have sought to make it legal for men to beat their wives if they’re refused sexual intercourse. The 160-page legislation, per reports, calls for “lightly beating” someone’s wive if they refuse to sexually satisfy their husband.
Other reasons a woman may now face beating under the proposed law:
- A wife’s failure to wear clothes to her spouse’s liking
- Failure to bathe following intercourse or during menstruation
- Failure to wear a hijab
- Giving money to someone without permission from her husband
- Speaking too loudly
