Apple has been sued by the DOJ over claims that the iPhone maker stifles competition

Apple is the latest company to face scrutiny by the DOJ over claims of monopoly status. According to reports, Apple was sued this week by officials over claims of improper actions to maintain market dominance.

The Lowdown

According to reports, the suit is taking aim at Apple over what is often referred to as the company’s “walled garden.” The walled garden is a reference to the dominance Apple has using its own apps and ecosystem that allow it to basically work hand in hand as long as a user is using an Apple device.

The suit also aims to target Apple’s dominance over developers and those seeking to use the App Store. In one part of the suit, Apple is accused of abusing its App Store making it understandably difficult for developers to offer the best possible deals and such to consumers.
