EU is getting one step closer to passing novel regulations to combat the rise of artificial intelligence

Understandably this headline probably sounds like something out of the Matrix, but unfortunately, this is actually real life now folks. Officials in the EU are moving forward with what is known as the A. I act, as the software continues to pose threats to mankind as we know it.

NOTE: The A. I Act is a novel piece of what appears to be a series of pieces of legislation intended to combat A.I. The regulations would be the first of their kind. AI systems would be classified using a series of labels ranging from essentially innocent to unacceptable. As the New York Times noted, a prime example of illegal use of AI under the act would be a police product that allows officers to snoop on citizens.

Tech companies are already fighting back according to The Times. Multiple companies claim the new regulations simply would be infeasible.
