The World Health Organization has convened an emergency meeting amid reports of Marburg virus cases popping up throughout the region. The Marburg virus is considered to be one of the deadliest viruses known to man and nearly everyone who encounters its pathogen dies. There aren’t any known cures at this time.
WHO officials are concerned that the deadly pathogen could be the next pandemic if it isn’t stopped now. Nine people have already died and multiple more are believed to be infected. Officials also note that the virus is one of few currently known that make patients bleed from their eyes.
The cases were detected in Equatorial New Guinea for the first time ever.
It is also believed to cause symptoms similar to that of Ebola as they are two similar viruses.
At this time it is only known that this virus has been detected in ENG.
