Scientists are attempting to find out this week how a piece of the sun can suddenly break off leading to one of the rarest events they’ve seen in a long time. This week NASA ‘s James Webb Telescope made the discovery after noticing that a massive tornado like event was taking place near the sun’s north pole.
“Talk about Polar Vortex!” Dr. Tamitha Skov wrote last week. “Material from a northern prominence just broke away from the main filament & is now circulating in a massive polar vortex around the north pole of our Star. Implications for understanding the Sun’s atmospheric dynamics above 55° here cannot be overstated!”
