Mariah Carey splashes cold water over saucy claims of how the song ‘All I Want For Christmas’ came to be

Mariah Carey is on the defense this week after weekend reports of a former co-writer and a wild tale about the alleged origins of the song ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’ The iconic Christmas hit in which Carey is only a co-writer has come under the microscope again after her former co-writer claimed that she had previously falsely claimed to have penned the song as a child.

“Mariah has never claimed to write ‘All I Want for Christmas’ by herself or as a child. She has always credited Walter, as he is cited as a writer on the song, so that would be ridiculous,” Carey’s rep told The New York Post.

“Not sure where that rumor came from, but Mariah is very respectful of writers and the craft, as she is a songwriter herself.”
